To be frank my feet are the least favourite part of me - I really struggle to find them attractive. I have never been one for pedicures nor have I paid as much care or attention to them as I should do.
At my Yoga class a couple of weeks ago, my fabulous yoga teacher focused a large part of our class on feet. It has changed my view of them!
From a Reiki perspective, our feet play a significant part in managing the transmission of energy within us. They draw it from the earth and also allow unwanted energy to be cleared and to pass back into the ground or environment where it can be re-cycled back to the earth. A Reiki session therefore often focuses on "fiddling" with feet!
A couple of friends of mine have been training hard to run the Brighton and London Marathons. Mad fools! Both have had Reiki sessions from me which has been considered to help in preparation and energy levels. They have both said so. I applaud their commitment to not only the training but also to be doing it to raise money for their personal causes. In doing so their lovely feet will be doing much of the work and I did try to work out how often these feet will make contact with the earth, I gave up on the calculation but you get the idea. Our feet not only convey us through life (and yes, before anyone comments, I am well aware that some people do not have feet and manage this in other ways) but when we are still and standing, they ground us all to the same earth. It is something we all share. We are united in this.
With kind permission, I am sharing a picture of my yoga class's feet. Namaste to all.
A very nice definition of Namaste "My soul honours your soul. I honour the place in you where the whole Universe resides. I honour the light, love, truth, beauty and peace within you because it is also in me. In sharing these things we are united, we are the same, we are one."
