Animal Communication
For as long as I can remember, animals have always been an important part of my life. I was brought up to realise that all animals, matter enormously. My parents instilled a feeling of respect for all living things.
With a background in Change Management, and a career in Management Learning and Development, I equally am passionate about helping individuals be the best they can be, in whatever they are hoping to achieve.
My path toward Animal Communication began several years ago, initiated through my decision to undertake my Reiki training. I am now a Reiki Master Teacher, offering Reiki, to both people and animals.
Having attended many Animal Communication Workshops, working with individual clients and giving support to animal charities, I have come to realise that developing and supporting Animal Communication capabilities in others is a key part of my life.
It is a great privilege to work with animals, their guardians/caregivers and students and I learn a great deal from all of them. I truly believe that the interactions for all involved can be life changing.
The connections and understanding through communication that we have with animals, teaches us a great deal about ourselves too. The animals that come into our lives can sometimes adopt our emotional and even physical issues, manifesting, sometimes, as their own. This can sometimes be exhibited through certain behaviours.
Perhaps, therefore, we have a responsibility, through communicating, to bring these to the surface, if they wish, to help them where needed and in turn, to understand our relationship with them a little better.

Frequently asked questions
What is Animal Communication?
Animal Communication is inter-species telepathic communication.
Inter-species telepathic communication is something we can all do and indeed, was well known/is well known, to indigenous people. In addition, in my opinion, small children below the age of formal education, seem to have an innate ability, prior to the process of un-learning these things.
It is not to be confused with Animal Whispering, where an experienced behavioural practitioner works on understanding and communicating through body language.
From an animal Communication perspective we are seeking to create an environment of trust in order to receive information, feelings (both emotional and physical), images and so on in order to create a "dialogue" with another energy - after all, in my opinion, animals are clearly another energetic being, with a soul essence, the same as us, simply in a different, physical envelope.
Whilst we maybe in a state of “stillness” in order to communicate, it is not a passive process, we are engaging all of our senses to receive information from an animal that we maybe in communication with. I like to refer to it as “mindless mindfulness”!
It is very powerful work and I reference a code of ethics developed by a well-known Animal Communicator (Penelope Smith) in all of my workshops.
How do we know that Animal Communication is actually possible?
As a leading light in the field of Animal Communication, Penelope Smith discovered, in 1971, that animals could be supported through emotional traumas and other issues using similar counselling techniques that helped humans. It was she, who originated the name “ inter-species telepathic communication”.
Penelope Smith has a Bachelor's and Master's degrees in social sciences; years of training and experience in human counselling, nutrition, and holistic body energy balancing methods; animal nutrition, anatomy, behaviour, and care; plus the first hand education from the thousands of animals she has worked and communicated with.
Author of the popular classic books in the field, Animal Talk, When Animals Speak, Animals in Spirit, many audio recordings, and founding editor of Species Link magazine, Penelope is well regarded by the world-wide, growing number of Animal Communicators.
Penelope's visionary work has been featured in newspaper and magazine articles, numerous books, and on radio and television, in the United States and abroad. She has developed tried-and-true telepathic communication techniques, which complement current scientific knowledge and traditional healing methods. Her methods foster people's ability to understand and communicate with animals on many levels - physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
How does Animal Communication help?
I may be asked to engage in a communication session with an animal, by their care-giver/guardian, in order to understand a behaviour, or perhaps what they need more of in their world to make them happier. In my experience, some physical presentations can arise as a result of an unresolved emotional issue and so, animal communication really helps in this respect.
As in the case of any complementary therapies we are never diagnosing physical/medical issues. That, is always for a Vet.
I also believe, very strongly, that animals act as mirrors or sponges and because they have the most amazing capacity for unconditional love, will often take on "our stuff", not because we want this, but because of the bond that we share.
By listening to them, allowing this dialogue, in a place of trust, it can often uncover a great deal that can be shared with an animal’s guardian, helping them understand and support their animal better and build upon the relationship and love that they share.
Obviously, communication is a two-way process, both the listening to and the sharing of information.
In a communication, it maybe, that I am asked to share information to an animal, that their guardian feels important and I will always attempt to do this. However, I would note that animals have free will in the same way as we do, and I find that attempting to exert our wishes upon them, or provide instruction seldom works. Better to understand their perspective on an issue and work together in any resolution. That said, clients do share that improvements have been evident or behaviours have changed after requests have been made to their animal.
The animals that come into our lives have their unique personalities and the more we learn from them, through communication, the more we can understand how to support them and build on the relationship we share.
Does an animal need to be physically present in order for a communication to take place?
The simple answer to this question is “no”. During the workshops that I teach, we practice Animal Communication with both animals present at the workshop but also with photographs of animals. Communication proves equally effective whether face to face or through a photograph. In fact, a connection can often be made more readily without the “distraction” (in the nicest possible way!) of an animal sometimes moving around a room or with their Guardian physically present. I often work through photographs, via e-mail and can provide advice on appropriate photographs to enable communication. The photograph acts as an energetic connection to the animal and the same is true for those animals that have passed into Spirit.
How is Animal Communication different to energy-based therapies or interventions? e.g. Reiki
I consider, and treat these things, quite separately.
When we offer Reiki to an animal, in my view, whilst we have set the intention for the highest good of that animal, we are allowing the "intelligent" energy to go where needed, for a healing purpose. It seems almost passive on our part. We are holding space, if you like.
Animal Communication, in my opinion, is a far more active process.
Many Reiki and other energy-based practitioners attend my animal Communication workshops, but it is important to understand that the two areas are very separat. Equally, many people learn Animal Communication but are not energy therapists at all!
Sometimes a communication with an animal, may lead to a separate Reiki offering, with discussion and agreement from their Guardian, but that is not always the case.
Sometimes, by just hearing, listening and dialoguing with animal and sharing with their guardian, significant resolution of issues, can occur.

Workshop Review - October 2019
It always gladdens me when a participant arrives with a home-made cake for sharing at a workshop. In this case, a lovely, Courgette cake . It did not last long and the enthusiasm, energy and openness of the participants were immediately apparent and set the tone for the whole weekend.
